A little backstory to this clip before you watch it:
Will Smith’s father abandoned him and his mother when he was a child, and when Will was finally getting into show business and making a name for himself, he tried to sneak his way back into his life like nothing happened. Will co-wrote this episode, and James Avery (Uncle Phil) said “this scene was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to shoot in my life. Every emotion, every word.. that was Will”
Will was actually supposed to play it off and then walk away, and there was originally an alternate scene that was supposed to happen, but he actually completely cut out what was supposed to be said, and did all of his own dialogue. The hug at the end of this scene is completely genuine, and this was a stepping stone in Will’s career where he started to take on the “do what feels, sounds, and looks right” approach to his acting.

First of all, I’ve certainly calmed down since Kenny left and one thing has become abundantly clear - Kenny wasn’t their choice, he was ours. I can’t help but thinking that they gave him the caretaker job to carry favour with fans, win us over but that come the summer he was supposed to leave and make way for someone else. As to who that would be I have absolutely no idea and wouldn’t claim to.
But after a decent 5-6 months, sacking him would have been impossible so they had absolutely no choice but to appoint him full time.
Finishing 8th was exactly what they wanted because it gave them a stick with which to beat him and sack him. If we’d finished, say, 5th or 6th and had at least looked like we might have challenged for the top four then it would’ve been difficult without going into more details about failed transfers, etc… and that would’ve been a lot harder to read for fans than simply “oohh bad league position”.
Now, as for Mr. Tomkins…
Following on from his statement - http://tomkinstimes.com/2012/05/statement-regarding/ - first thing that instantly springs to mind is that it’s admirable that FSG even bothered to take the time to try to catch up with the clubs history. I wonder how many books the Glazers read about United or how much time Mr. Abramovich poured into reading about Chelsea? I wouldn’t expect it to be much.
And big deal, they’ve consulted with a journalist/author who just happens to be a lifetime Liverpool fan. Where’s the harm in that? And even if they had taken him on in a paid, formal position - so what? They’re all grown ups and can make informed decisions on their own. If Paul tells them something and they agree - they run with it - but they’re just as free to disagree and form their own opinions which they clearly are doing at the moment but with the GUIDANCE of someone else, pointing them towards candidates who may or may not be suitable for Liverpool to move forward.
I hope Paul comes back, makes his account private or something so he can keep the weirdos out. The pitiful amount of people hiding behind their keyboards is growing and growing and, for me, this all started with the Spirit Of Shankly. I was never in favour of that group from day one and this is a fine example of why - it’s teaching fans that if you disagree with something - write letters, abuse them on the internet and burn flags. Fuck those guys so much, they don’t represent me or my views one bit and I dare say that’s the same for millions of other reds across the world.
